What is Prudent Redact?
Prudent Redact, also known as Redact Prudent or Prudent Autolytics Redact, is an online PDF redaction tool built by Prudent Autolytics. It finds and permanently removes sensitive information from PDF documents, such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, bank and account numbers and ID numbers, using AI on Microsoft Azure.
What documents can I redact?
Any PDF that contains personal or confidential data: contracts and legal documents, HR and employee records, bank statements, invoices, KYC and customer onboarding forms, insurance and claim forms, and internal reports. It works as a secure alternative to manually blacking out text in a PDF editor.
Can Prudent Redact handle scanned PDFs?
Yes. Azure AI Document Intelligence reads text from scanned and image based PDFs with OCR, so sensitive values can be detected and redacted even when the PDF has no selectable text.
How does the redaction actually work?
You submit a PDF from the secure workspace. Azure AI Document Intelligence analyzes the document content and identifies sensitive values, and the workflow applies black-box redaction that replaces the original content in the controlled output. The result is reviewed side by side with its processing status.
Is the redaction permanent, or can the text be recovered?
Black-box redaction replaces the original content in the output document. The redacted output is produced as a new controlled file, and its state is recorded with output evidence so you can prove what changed.
Where are my documents processed and stored?
Processing runs on Microsoft Azure. Documents are held in private Azure Blob Storage and are accessed through short lived, signed links rather than public URLs. Processing history for your account stays visible inside the workspace.
Do I need a password?
No. Access is passwordless: you enter your work email and receive a short lived verification code. Successful verification establishes a signed session for the workspace.
How can I prove what was removed?
Every completed job records output evidence, including a SHA 256 fingerprint and processing history. The document viewer lets you open the original and the redacted output for controlled review.
How is usage measured and billed?
Operations are metered. Successful redaction jobs increment your plan usage and record cost estimates, which are visible on the dashboard and in governance reporting.
What about images and video?
A media privacy studio supports image and video review with automatic face assistance, Black, Blur or Pixelate effects, safety margins and manual regions. Availability is shown inside the product, and unavailable tools are never presented as active.
Who can administer the workspace?
Administration is restricted by role. Only accounts holding the administrator role can manage users, plans, credits and access, and every administrative action is recorded for audit.
